Louis Vuitton — Japan. Visionary Journeys
Published on the occasion of the exhibition “Louis Vuitton Visionary Journeys” at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka (July 15 to September 17, 2025), this book celebrates the deep, enduring relationship between Louis Vuitton and Japan. Authored by Florence Müller, curator of the exhibition, it traces the House’s journey from the evolution of its innovative trunks and emblematic Monogram pattern (partly inspired by Japanese design) to its global expansion and influence on street style, particularly in Japan. Lavishly illustrated with photographs and archive documents, this comprehensive volume spotlights the House’s groundbreaking collaborations with the renowned Japanese artists Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama, as well as landmark collections by artistic directors – Virgil Abloh, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones and Pharrell Williams – who have continually looked to Japan for inspiration. Featuring contributions from leading experts in fashion, art and cultural history, “Louis Vuitton — Japan. Visionary Journeys” shows how engagement with Japanese culture has enriched the House’s legacy and expanded the boundaries of luxury fashion.
