LOUIS VUITTON TRAVEL BOOK COLLECTION - Louis Vuitton Art & Travel NEWS
The Louis Vuitton Travel Book Collection adds Cuba, Prague, Rome and Route 66 to its destinations.

On May 1, 2018, Louis Vuitton launches four new titles within its Travel Book Collection illustrated by artists from all around the world.

Chinese Li Kunwu draws Cuba in a prolific and fervent style ; while the Russian Pavel Pepperstein depicts Prague filling its colourful icons with poetry and romanticism. The American Miles Hyman stages a lively Rome along with its characters and contrasts ; and the Swiss Thomas Ott criss-crosses the Route 66, and drives a sharp and dark story.

The Louis Vuitton Travel Book series is an invitation to real and virtual voyages, enriched by intellectual stimulation and poignant moments. In its pages, the illustrations of renowned artists and promising young talents tell the stories of the cities and countries they have visited, depicting each place’s varied architecture and special light, and recording the passing days and the lives of its people.

For each new title, a limited edition of 30 copies numbered and signed by the artist will be available in selected Louis Vuitton stores.

FONDATION LOUIS VUITTON: NEW EXHIBITION - Louis Vuitton Art & Travel NEWS
Throughout the galleries of the Frank Gehry building, "In Tune with the World" unveils a new selection of artists from the Collection, bringing together modern and contemporary works.

More than a simple hanging of works, "In Tune with the World" (11th April - 27th August 2018) is intended to be an exhibition based on a specific theme. This reflects today’s questions about man’s place in the universe and the bonds that tie him to his surrounding environment and living world, highlighting the interconnections between humans, animals, plants, and even inanimate objects.

Two complementary sequences cover the entire building: an immersion into the world of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Man in the living universe, bringing together 28 French and international artists from different generations and techniques, among them Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Yves Klein, François Morellet and Pierre Huyghe.

  • OBJETS NOMADES AT DESIGN MIAMI

Louis Vuitton presents from its Objets Nomades collection, an exclusive turquoise-coloured edition of the Bomboca Sofa by Fernando and Humberto Campana, at Design Miami/ from December 6th to 10th.

Launched in 2012, Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades is an ever-expanding collection of limited-edition, collectable furniture by renowned designers, which is inspired by the House’s historic Art of Travel, while reinterpreting its essential spirit.

The Bomboca Sofa, named after sweets served at weddings and children’s parties in Brazil and meaning “very good”, is a modular piece that was originally inspired by cloud shapes and colourful round sea apples. The result is like a puzzle in which eight removable cushions are arranged in a rigid, leather-covered shell.

Other Objets Nomades making their Design Miami/ 2017 debut include the pieces created by Atelier Oï such as the Swing Boat, the Belt Chair and the Spiral Lamp with its twisted straps of leather. Also presented are Patricia Urquiola’s Palaver Chair in a mix of wood and woven sheets of perforated leather, India Mahdavi’s Talisman Table in leather marquetry, and Marcel Wanders’ rocking Lune Chair and leather Diamond Screen.

A selection of Objets Nomades will also be visible at the Louis Vuitton Miami Design District Store.
