The prize giving ceremony of Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series in Portsmouth.

Following the fantastic opening regatta of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series, Michael Burke, CEO of Louis Vuitton, Sir Keith Mills, Event Chairman and Land Rover BAR Founding Shareholder and Board member, and Dr. Harvey Schiller, Commercial Commissioner for the America’s Cup, congratulated the victorious Land Rover BAR team at the prize giving ceremony in Portsmouth.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge presented the trophies and medals while Michael Burke presented personalized Louis Vuitton Keepall Ombre bags embossed with the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup logo to the team skippers.

“The America’s Cup is the grail of yachting. It sees challengers racing across the oceans for a lifelong quest. The freedom, courage, and skills that it requires reflect the trailblazing spirit of Louis Vuitton. We were able to witness here in Portsmouth exciting races beyond expectations and are thrilled to have successfully launched a new chapter in our shared history.” said Michael Burke.

It was the first time in 164 years that it had been held in British waters. The oldest international sporting trophy, the America’s Cup inaugural event was first staged in 1851 around the Isle of Wight, off Portsmouth. Founded in 1854, Louis Vuitton has been a major partner of the America’s Cup since 1983.

  • AMERICA'S CUP A LIFE LONG QUEST

Freedom, courage, skill and competence: the true spirit of Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton and the America’s Cup enjoy one of the longest partnerships in the world of sports, dating back to 1983.

Six teams have so far taken up the challenge of racing for the next America’s Cup. The defending champion is Oracle Team USA. The challengers are Emirates Team New Zealand, Artemis Racing (SWE), Land Rover Bar  (GBR), SoftBank Team Japan (JPN) and Groupama Team France.

The America's Cup is the oldest trophy in international sport. The first race was organised by the Royal Yacht Squadron and was a single race around the Isle of Wight, open to all nations. The amazing thing is that the event started in the UK in 1851 and Great Britain has yet to win it!

The first Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series will take place in Portsmouth from July 23rd until July 26th, 2015.

  • "BEYOND THE WALLS" EXHIBITION IN BEIJING

The exhibition “Fondation Louis Vuitton building in Paris by Frank Gehry” will be held in Beijing from 19th June to 16th August 2015, first step of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s project abroad.

As stated during its inauguration, the Fondation Louis Vuitton intends to deploy its artistic activities not only in Paris but also abroad. The first step of this "beyond-the-walls" programme will take place in Beijing from 19th June to 16th August 2015, in a specially allocated venue within the 'China World' complex.

From early sketches to the completion of work, the monographic exhibition focuses on Frank Gehry’s project for the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. It offers a new vision of the creative universe of the architect and Laureate of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 1989, who has described the Foundation as a 'magnificent vessel that symbolizes France’s profound cultural vocation'.

The show will then travel to Tokyo, where it will be held in the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton from 15th October 2015. Future events in the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s "beyond-the-walls" art programme will be announced subsequently.
