SIR BEN AINSLIE'S TEAM WINS ASIA’S FIRST AMERICA’S CUP RACING EVENT

Land Rover BAR took the ultimate round of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in Fukuoka last Sunday.

Fukuoka in Japan was the 9th and last event of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series, launched in Portsmouth in July 2015.

After a tie-break in the regatta, Land Rover BAR finished the series with 512 points, 19 ahead of Oracle Team USA, the two-time defending America's Cup champions, in second place.

Ainslie, the most decorated Olympic sailor in history, is attempting to bring the America’s Cup back to the UK where the oldest trophy in international sport was first contested in 1851.

The winners of the qualifying series from May 26th to June 5th, 2017 in Bermuda, will face Oracle Team USA in the main event, the 2017 America's Cup later in June.
